HOW TO DO LI ON GEM PORTAL OR L1 COMPARISION

You want to know how to do LI (Limited Item / Limited Item Bidding / Limited Item Listing) on the GeM (Government e-Marketplace) portal . I’ll explain step by step in simple terms: 🔹 What is LI on GeM? On GeM, LI (Lowest Identified / Limited Item) generally refers to Lowest Bidder (L1) identification in tenders/RA (Reverse Auction). Sometimes users also say "LI" when they mean Limited Item Listing (putting a product/service with limited specifications). So I’ll cover both contexts : ✅ If you mean LI as Lowest Identified (L1) Bidder in Bid/RA This is when you want to participate in bids/tenders and become LI (lowest price supplier) . Steps: Login → Go to gem.gov.in and log in with your Seller ID.  Search Opportunities → In the "Bids / RA" section, filter by your category/product/service. Check Eligibility → Read buyer requirements carefully (OEM, brand, compliance, experience, etc.). Quote Your Price → Submit your bid with the best comp...

9 Years of Efficiency: My Journey on the GeM Portal

My Past 9-Year Journey on the GeM Portal: From Basic to Advanced

Nine years ago, when I first started working on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal, the platform was still in its early stages — basic, functional, and focused mainly on simplifying procurement. Over the years, I have witnessed, learned, and adapted to some of the most remarkable transformations in the Indian public procurement system.

2015–2016: The Early Days (Basic Stage)

  • GeM was newly launched, focusing primarily on simple product listings and basic procurement processes.

  • Limited seller categories and manual approvals for many processes.

  • Few training resources — most learning came from hands-on experience.

2017–2019: The Evolution Stage

  • Introduction of GeM 3.0 with improved search, cataloging, and order tracking.

  • Expanded product and service categories, bringing more opportunities for sellers.

  • Increased automation in bid evaluation and contract management.

2020–2022: Digital Integration Stage

  • Integration with UMANG App and the Government e-Invoice Portal, making transactions faster and more compliant.

  • Digital payment gateways became smoother, reducing delays in settlements.

  • More tools for analytics and performance tracking for sellers and buyers.

2023–2024: The Advanced Stage

  • GeM became a large-scale marketplace with 2.8 million+ sellers and service providers.

  • AI-based search, recommendation systems, and smart bidding tools.

  • Streamlined compliance checks, fraud prevention measures, and transparent bidding.

  • Higher transaction volume — crossing ₹5.51 lakh crore in value.
